Safety: Closure of Fresno VFD Fire Station, Located on FM 521

July 9, 2025 11:34 am

Fresno, TX, July 9, 2025 – Due to an abundance of leaks and resulting ventilation issues caused by recent storms, the fire station located on Highway 521 has been closed effective immediately.

This decision was made out of an abundance of caution and in consideration of the health and safety of our firefighters.

All personnel and equipment previously housed at the Highway 521 station have been relocated to Station 51. We do not anticipate any impact on emergency response or service coverage as a result of this move.

“The safety of our crews is paramount,” said Anthony Bates, Fire Chief of Fort Bend County ESD 7. “The recent weather has created indoor conditions that do not meet our operational safety standards. This temporary closure allows us to continue serving the community while we address these issues.”

An evaluation is currently underway to determine the necessary repairs and next steps for the facility. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.

Fort Bend County Emergency Services District No. 7 (FBCESD 7) provides emergency services for the eastern portion of Fort Bend County, including Fresno, and Arcola. FBCESD 7’s service area covers 36 square miles.
